History of the Kingdom of Naples), pg. 1
In this quote, Giannone is introducing his work Istoria civile del regno di Napoli (The Civil History of the Kingdom of Naples) in a very clear way. This quote is important because he mentions that in the book he will write the different disasters caused by what he calls the "evil" which is the Roman Catholic Church and the Pope. He also mentions that he will write the baleful and unhappy events during that time period.
Triple Crown, or the Reign of Heaven, Earth, and the Pope”)
In this quote, Giannone is mentioning the fact that not only the bodies (represents politics), but also the spirits (represents religion) and heart (represents people) of people were given to the feet of the clergy clasped between chains. This quote is important because it showed how Giannone was against the idea that the Pope should have more power than the monarch in his reign, but a monarch should, both politically and religiously.
